Specific needs
Each department and position held within a company has specific needs, requiring specific vocabulary.
A receptionist, for example, may be required to have a sufficient grasp of the English language to enable her to receive calls appropriately.
A sample of some of the things she or he may have to learn are:
» Greetings—a variety of ways to say "hello” and “good-bye".
»The appropriate telephone etiquette of the other culture and language.
»The vocabulary necessary to effectively represent your company and/or office.
»The ability to deal appropriately with foreign accents.
